When is a professional referral appropriate?
- When a client or patient is experiencing difficulties and
your own time constraints mean that you are unable to help, to the
depth required.
- When you have personal contact with the client or patient
outside the professional area, and when this might limit the kind
of help that you can give.
- When they are reluctant to discuss an issue with you for
any reason.
- When you are aware that your client or patient has financial
restraints that will limit the therapeutic services they would normally
be able to access.
- When you desire a better outcome for your client or patient.
