Life Coaching
" The difference between a dream and a goal
is a plan."

Life Coaching is a style of counselling which aims to help
clients to refresh their business, career or personal life
on a practical level. Although I do not personally offer life
coaching as a service, my colleague Bryan Cutts is
now offering reduced fee coaching in conjunction with The Blue
Mountains Low Cost Counselling & Psychotherapy clinic.
This is his definition of life coaching.
" Because a lot of our lives can seem to be focussed on simply 'getting
through the day' and just doing what needs to be done, it is
not always easy to see that light at the end of the tunnel.
Sometimes we can lose sight of what it was we want to do with
our lives. and life coaching can help you rediscover and realise
your dreams. Life coaches work with you to clearly identify
what it is you want to improve or achieve, and then help you
to plan an effective, realistic and personally meaningful strategy
(or strategies) to accomplish your ambitions.
For coaching to be most effective and useful, it is important
to accept that all solutions and plans of action will be yours,
and will not be provided by your life coach. The job of a life
coach is to help you to focus clearly and to stay on-track. think
of a life coach as your guide and at times, devil's advocate!
Most coaching is offered via telephone with occasional email
support, although face-to-face sessions are available in Katoomba.
Sessions are either 30 or 60 minutes long - depending on what
you feel you need. Often, only one or two sessions are enough
to set you on the right path or to confirm what you already
knew you had to do. Other people spend short bursts of 3 or
6 sessions with their coach, while others depend on weekly
or monthly sessions for medium and long terms, as a means of
staying 'in touch' with their objectives.
Unlike psychotherapy and many other types of counselling,
life coaching is not suitable for dealing with emotional, psychological
or physical traumas, although in some cases, concurrent coaching
and psychotherapy programmes may be suitable and complementary."
