About Carole

" Shall I turn out to be the hero of my own life?"
- Charles Dickens from 'David Copperfield'

I was born in New Zealand but have also lived in England and now, for the last 16 years, in Australia where I have worked in many different areas, including the corporate, financial, retail and healing industries.

However, for the past 25 years, I have been training and practicing as a natural therapist and professional counsellor. I hold qualifications in counselling and psychotherapy, medical herbalism, aromatherapy, iridology and various modalities of bodywork. My diverse background enables me to bring maturity and empathy to my approach as a therapist and I am able to draw on a wide range of skills to help you reach your goals.

In addition to face to face individual, couple and family counselling, I am an experienced support group leader and telephone counsellor. I first started volunteer telephone work with The Samaritans (UK) in the 1970s and have since moving to Australia, have worked with Lifeline as a face to face counsellor and Child Abuse Prevention Service (CAPS), telephone counselling.

I believe that counselling & psychotherapy should be professional, effective and affordable. As a long term volunteer with many community support organisations, I am aware that too many people don't seek the help that they need, because of financial constraints. It is my mission, to change that situation.

Direction with Clarity now has two clinics available. The Blue Mountains Low Cost Counselling & Psychotherapy clinic which was set up to provide accessible low cost counselling to local residents and I am now I am available two days per week, at Parramatta, for the benefit of those clients who may work in the city or Western suburbs.
